Restaurant La Rioja

The restaurant La Rioja, located in the heart of Barcelona, offers a market cuisine where modernity, tradition, Catalan and Rioja recipes, balance and variety, family ambience and professional service harmonize.

Fusion of regional recipes
The Catalan’s and Rioja’s culinary roots are being merged in the restaurant’s kitchen resulting in various creative dishes, modernizing traditional food. This also reflected in a consistent menu and balanced and impressive dishes of the day.

Cozy ambience

The fusion of styles is in the air. The dominant feature of the huge dining room is a wooden bench, running from wall to wall and reminding us of a picturesque eating house. The dining room, a large bright room with vaulted ceilings and a capacity of 60 guests comfortably seated, allows us to put several tables together for banquets and celebrations, small and medium-sized business meetings and friend’s get-together.

La Rioja heritage

The Lopez founded in the middle of the last century a typical Rioja bar-restaurant on Duran i Bas street in Barcelona, near the Cathedral, right in the Old Town. The family business soon achieved a loyal clientele thanks to its tasty dishes and the proximity and friendliness of the founders Pachi and Marisa. It was in 1982 when Ernesto and Amparo took over and decided to modernize the business, focusing only on gastronomy. The current structure of the establishment dates from that time.
Today the spirit of enterprise of Marisa and Pachi and the cultural and culinary heritage of La Rioja, lives on in Luisa and Carlos, their successors, who are responsible for the latest trends in the kitchen, supported by a large loyal clientele since the 80s of the last century.
